Lessons to help you get fit…

With the long school summer holiday finally at an end, parents everywhere can finally get back into a normal routine and start looking after themselves again and get back to working out and normal eating patterns.

Oh and maybe getting your energy back!

Lots of parents find it difficult to maintain a workout schedule during the summer break while providing a part-time taxi service for their kids, holidays abroad and all the joys of the summer hols.

Just having them around the house can prove distracting and your commitment to your body can go astray.

I’ve put together six top tips on how to put the summer lull behind you and get back to eating and living healthily… and feeling super sexy and great!

It’s time to get your exercise mojo back!

Now that’s easier said than done, right?

It can be hard to get back into the flow of your usual workout routine. Once you stop for a few weeks, your body takes a break too. When you try to get back into the swing of things you may find that your body finds it a little harder than it did before.

Those favourite pair of jeans don’t seem to fit, so again you begrudgingly put back them back in the wardrobe for a while…

… but it doesn’t have to be this way!

The good news is: There are ways to make the transition easier for anyone who’s had a break from regular exercise and wants to start a workout programme again.

1. Don’t Give Up!

If you’ve had break from exercise and it can feel like starting out fresh all over again with sore muscles and tired minds holding you back. For most people this is the time when they decide to quit…

DON’T!

Stay strong!

You’re not that far away from where you want to be, so push through the barrier. The first weeks are always the ones where you struggle the most, but when you see the progress you’ll realise why you started back again and your efforts will be worth it in the end.

I have a simple step by step 7-day Kickstart plan to help anyone make that first week more bearable and a lot more fun! Just ask me for details.

2. Don’t Expect To Jump Straight Back In

It’s important that you realise your body isn’t going to be at the same level of fitness it was before the holidays. Don’t get frustrated with yourself when you can only run for 5 minutes before you’re breathless.

Start on an easy lever and slowly progress back up to your level. Keep some consistency in there and you’ll be flying and feeling great before you know it.

Stick to your plan and within a couple of weeks you should be back to your previous fitness levels.

3. Hydrate

The school break may be over but the summer heat may still be around for a few weeks yet so it’s imperative to stay hydrated before, during, and after your workout.

When we exercise our requirement for water goes up further.

Drink a pint of water about an hour before you start and keep a bottle with you during your workout. Then when you’re finished drink another half a pint.

I often find that my new members find an increase in energy simply by increasing their water intake.

4. Eat Cleaner

Nutrition and exercise go hand-in-hand but during the summer break it can be easy to fall off the wagon.

Whether you’ve been abroad and eaten out every day or visited the ice cream van back at home you just have to draw a line in the sand. Get back to eating clean healthy food again; no matter how hard you try you can’t out run a bad diet.

Eating healthier actually gives people more energy. If you don’t know how to make your food fun then get some inspiration from my Feed Me Fit Cookbook.

5. Have Fun

If you want go get in shape by using a running programme but you hate running with a passion then why do it?
