The whole lock down experience has been an interesting one.

In a world where it currently offers a lot of uncertainty at the moment, it’s easy to see how a positive outlook on life can easily turn into a negative one.

You can understand why many people will put their energy and focus into those things they cannot control.

Rather than those things they can.

The news and social media drive fear into people like puppets on a string.

It makes them act in ways they probably wouldn’t normally.

They REACT rather than respond.

A mind that is FULL, cannot be mindful…

…and often acts in a negative way that doesn’t serve well.

One example of this to keep things on topic is that when the gyms were shutdown, people then chose (maybe by default) into moving less and possibly eating more, or at the very least, more of the things that don’t serve us.

Alcohol sales certainly went through the roof.

Whether you were on furlough or having to work from home, it’s easy to see why this can happen.

Isolation breaks people down slowly, sometimes people don’t even realise.

Sure, more people were evidently out running, cycling and walking.

But how many more people were doing less behind closed doors?

I’m certain it was a much higher percentage than normal and what people wanted to believe.

Which is why quite a lot of people reported back to me that they had put on scale weight.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m no saint and some bad habits were creeping back in.

Weight isn’t the only issue

At times when people are trapped inside, it becomes a recipe for other health issues than just people’s waistlines.

Mentally it can take its toll.

It’s common.

An issue that is already on the rise, is only going to take a leap right now.

It was easy to see that people’s moods were changing and going in the wrong direction.

So, I wanted to do something that would help keep myself in line with my own values.

To ensure my own health and fitness levels were where I want them to be, and keep inspiring others to believe that bigger things are still possible under these circumstances.

Exercise is a great anchor for me...

Just like a ship…

When its required to stay put and not let the current take it off course, it drops an anchor to avoid any kind of unwanted drift.

Ever since I got into exercise, it has been that one thing that I can rely on when other areas are not quite going to plan.

Health and Fitness is a Compass...

If that points in the wrong direction, other areas start being influenced negatively too.

Exercise helps me think better, eat better and ultimately feel better.

Everything in my life becomes better.

Exercise is one of the greatest and ‘quick-fix’ ways to increase energy and BOOST positive levels of general wellbeing.

So it is my belief that it should always be part of everyone’s week in one-way, shape or form.

How that looks, is dependent on the individual goal.

If you want to be fit, lean and healthier…

Progressive Resistance Training is essential.

So I knew it was something I needed to keep applying and to a high level, and help others around me who needed to stay fit and healthy.

No Gym = No Exercise?

My clients were all wondering…

What we were going to do?

Which is why I adapted and created an online platform plus incorporate different forms of effective exercise they could do at home or in a park.

Plus, put something back into the community and do an event and raise some money for Charity.

Myton Hospice in this case.

It needed to be something that would test my levels of fitness and be a little unusual so I could get some interest around the event.

Something that nobody has ever done before.

So I decided I would run up and down Newbold Comyn Hill 50 times with the addition of 1000 Press Ups throughout.

This would equal a 10k run but over an incline of 2000m.

I know it sounds crazy, but as I said, it needed to be something that would take me out of my comfort zone.

To test me mentally and physically.

Because of this, it attracted the attention of the media.

First it was the Leamington Courier

I was then interviewed on BBC CWR Radio with Brody Swain and then articles in the Leamington Observer and Coventry Evening Telegraph followed.

At the current time of writing this, I had managed to collect £803 of Charity money for Myton Hospice, my target was £500 so I was pleased with that.

I had ticked all the boxes I set out to try and achieve.

This is the type of mindset that I help people understand if they work with me.

Newbold Comyn Hill was MY goal and I wouldn’t expect anyone else to try and do this.

But everyone needs a goal, a target, one that is important to them.

Without one they’ll always miss, right?

We all have a Point A – where you currently are right now.

With the idea that you have some awareness and goal of what your Point B will look like. It could be anything from losing 10lbs to achieving a 10k run, maybe you want to improve your sleep, have more energy and confidence?

This then creates your gap, which is the part you need to work on and close over time with a simple strategy.

Taking small steps, creating momentum and consistency.

Basically, we create a plan to help you see and understand how your goal will be simpler than possibly how you feel about it right now.

This could include various areas to consider.

Mindset

  • Do you need clarity with a goal to help improve yourself?
  • How to gain confidence to achieve it?
  • Be provided with the necessary support and guidance to see it through?

Exercise

  • Do you need help to move more and start or improve your weekly exercise?
  • Do you need to learn how and why it’s important to become stronger?
  • Do you need the skills and knowledge to be leaner and feel better in clothes?

Nutrition

  • Do you want to live a healthier lifestyle and increase your wellbeing?
  • Do you want the secret to healthier eating but still enjoy your favourite foods?
  • Do you want to discover how to have more energy and improved sleep?

The above are just examples but areas that are very common when people approach me for help.

I mentioned above that some people were struggling during the lockdown period, admittedly they were honest and said they were not exercising too well and they were eating too much of the things we would associate as bad.

Which is okay… this happens and it’s just a case of getting back on the horse and doing the things you used to do.

Luckily lockdown has eased a little…

But, it wasn’t all like that… there are people who still achieved success during the lockdown.

Three of my clients just as an example, Ben, Roland and Bobby all mentioned that they had each lost between 4-6kg during the lockdown.

Which is no surprise that all 3 of these were clients who had been using the online platform that I had provided during the lockdown.

Why?

They were exercising with intention and consistency.

And…

Just like I’ve mentioned with myself, it often has a knock on effect with how people eat in a positive way.

It CAN be that simple.

But, to tie those things together, there is typically something else that helps keep those things rolling in the the right direction.

Accountability

It’s a great thing and something that can sometimes not be given the credit it’s due.

Everybody uses some form of accountability in their life.

If you have a business or a job, you’re often responsible in one-way shape or form to yourself or others, you have numbers and targets to meet or deadlines to to achieve for your boss.

Without this, a business may fail or you’ll be out of a job.

Simple.

It’s different but often the same when it comes to a mindset perspective.

You could say it’s easy for people to say they will do something.

But it’s EASIER for people to not actually take action, if they don’t feel like it.

Both are fine by the way…

But would you be happy with either if it affected your own health and fitness?

Maybe that lack of energy was taking its toll on your business or family?

I’m guessing you wouldn’t want that, right?

The thing is, it’s never just about being healthier and fitter, these things help other areas of your life.

Just like with me…

And the Newbold Comyn Hill Challenge.

I could’ve easily said I was going to do it to myself, but just not finished the job because it wouldn’t have mattered.

The reason I told people, complete it for charity and get the media involved, was for my own form of accountability.

I need it too from time to time.

Which is why I’m a fan with helping people with that too.

I get it!!

You can find a good enough fitness program and healthy eating guide on the internet for a small cost, even free…

But you’ve still got to do it.

Success requires TEAMWORK

People who try and go alone, often don’t succeed.

I’m not saying they can’t do it.

But everyone needs SUPPORT, especially on those days and weeks when things try and get in the way and knock you off your course of direction.

I have gained a lot of knowledge around training and nutrition over many years, but it’s the experience I offer after working with over 150 people that my clients gain the true value from.

So, if you’re ready… I’m ready to help you.
