When I was younger a mate of mine Lee once told me that you only get worse as you age..
We are always getting older, we cannot get away from this fact..
We constantly remind ourselves of this fact and we always here it from others..
What does this do?
Well this then creates that story in our head that we are limited and we believe what others tell us..
I can’t do that because I am too old..
I can’t lose weight because I am too old..
^^^ Yes there is something in that one but it doesn’t have to be the case..
Our hormones change as we get older but we can control this with a different nutritional strategy..
^^^ At PSPT you learn this..
Anyway, going back to what my mate said..
This has always stuck in my head when and once I got into fitness I have always been determined to prove this wrong..
I have certainly succeeded…..You see 10 years ago I used to do things differently but I started listening and learning
from different people a few years ago..
At the age of 37 I am certainly healthier and leaner than when I was at 27..
I don’t even train as much as I used to..
>>>>> WE DON’T HAVE TO YOU SEE
With the right programming and strategy we can get to where we want to be easier and healthier 🙂
BUT…
This isn’t about me, let me talk to you about Simon..
Simon Jackson has been a client of mine for just over 3 years now..
Walking through the doors of a PT studio in Warwick at the age of 49. A little over weight and no experience of exercise..
You see if he was to believe what Lee had said then how was he ever going to fix this?
Luckily it is complete garbage as Simon has followed me all over and we currently work together in Leamington at the home of Phil Sims Personal Training!!
Since then Simon has gone on to lose weight, he is lean, he fits in to the clothes he wants to..
He can even do 10 Pull Ups – I know people in their 20’s who cannot even do this 😉
This year he has had his best year to date..
You see just being fit and healthy just wasn’t enough, time to challenge himself..
This year we worked on his running skills so he can now run 10k!!
^^^ He never could do that!
He has completed the Wolf Run! That is a challenge on it’s own. Oh and we raised £1740 for charity along the way too 🙂
He leisurely has taken up road cycling at the weekends..
The man has achieved a lot in is 3 years he has taken up my Personal Training Services..
On Saturday I awarded Simon an award at our Christmas Party. It was fair to say that everyone around the table knew where the 2014 award was going to that night..
So going back to what can we learn from this?
Age is no barrier and at 53 Simon is just getting better and better..
It is never too late so if you want to be the next Simon Jackson then get in touch and I can discuss how you could be 🙂
