I came across this study the other day (I think Paul Mort told me) about how GP’s should be more honest and confront people about their weight.
The study was performed with 19,000 people and 178 GP’s were used in the study.
The results proved that collectively people lost 3 times as much weight.
This wasn’t a surprise to me, I’ve helped 100’s of people in my time. I would lose count on the amount of times people have come for my help to take action based on me being honest with them and letting them know exactly how they are doing.
There is a lot of coverage in the media these days about ‘fat-shaming’ and how people should give people overweight an easier ride.
Now I’m not into name calling on any level but I’m not sure where I sit with this whole ‘fat shaming’ debacle.
What I will say though is that I’m not here to tell people what they want to hear. You cannot create change by blowing smoke up people’s backside.
We’ve all been there, right?
Have you ever worked with a coach or mentor or even someone at work who has just made you feel good all of the time? Even though you know they probably shouldn’t do. They’ve never challenged you because they are too busy howling down their own unicorn-horn.
It sounds good and you feel better but are you really getting anywhere?
The truth of the whole fat-shaming thing is it leaves people pretending their problems are not there so they blame someone else to cover up the cracks and their lack of action.
Wouldn’t it be better to take responsibility of your own life and take some action?
Rather than blame others, why not shut them up by showing people what you can become.
Now that might make me sound like I’m being harsh but I can assure you I’m only here to help.
What you’ll get from me is focus, direction and most importantly support.
Anyway, I digress.
As I said, I was holding back from this but I’d be doing an injustice to those who need me help by holding back.
If you’re fatter than you should be, you have poor skin, your hair looks crap, your energy is low, your mood lower, your blood pressure higher or your muscles weaker then…
…It’s your Fault!
You chose to be that way.
We deserve what we choose.
But just so we are clear, I’m not judging you.
I’m merely stating a fact, so don’t overreact and quit reading. If you do, you’ll miss why it’s your fault and, more importantly, what you can do about it.
Look, here’s the truth about health. The truth that hardly anyone out there seems to want to address or talk about, but the one that can and will make all the difference to both the quality and quantity of your life…
…if you act upon it.
The truth is, your health is your responsibility.
***It’s Not the Government’s Job to Keep You Healthy***
Which ever way you look at it, the government just want your money so they have to make money.
They don’t care about your health.
***It’s Not the Media’s Fault***
The media is about news, so that’s what they do.
They make news and make a profit.
If they had your best interest at heart, then they’d tell you the answer and be out of business next month.
***It’s Not your Bosses Fault***
How many times have you complained about your boss?
Now he may be giving you a hard time but he certainly didn’t order you to eat those doughnuts at work. He didn’t tell you to drive home and pick up a take-away and bottle of red to help energise you for tomorrows heavy schedule, right?
The truth is, if he gives you a hard time, he probably is doing the same to everyone around you in the same office or on the other end of the phone.
***It’s Not the Medical Industries Fault***
Doctors get a bad rep for not helping out with people’s health.
The truth is they are taught how to deal with illness and not health.
If people looked after their health, then they’d not need the doctor as much.
***It’s Not Mary or Mikes Fault***
So there is another birthday in the office.
Just because there is cake it doesn’t mean you have to eat some just to make them feel better. Make a choice that serves you and you only.
***It’s NOT The Food Producers Fault***
These guys are not interested in keeping you healthy, they are only bothered if you are not spending!!
It is your fault because it quite simply isn’t theirs, right?
Maybe it’s not your fault but it certainly is your problem.
We all need to take responsibility for our own actions.
So make better choices.
There are typically 4 reasons why people don’t take actions.
- They lie to themselves.
- They don’t take the steps needed.
- They get caught up in their own stories and drama.
- They don’t listen or open up with their coach.
I’ve used various coaches over the last year, I understand how powerful having coaches can be. It’s easy to lose the perspective and direction with the way you want to go.
Having someone by your side to help you with that brain fog can really help your clear away the mist in the road.
