Being in this industry now for many years and a Personal Trainer…

…it is only natural I am going to be somebody who is healthy, lean, eats well most of the time, is excited about exercise, has plenty of energy and is always motivated with no problems with sleep and has that get up and go.

It’s not a brag, there are plenty of things that I’ve had to do in order to make that happen.

But it wasn’t always like that…

Far from it actually.

I’ve had times when I was:

  • Overweight
  • Miserable
  • Lacked Energy
  • Motivation

I didn’t know how to exercise without risk of injury…

I struggled with:

  • Gut Health
  • Anxiety
  • Food Cravings
  • Stress

…and spent many nights wide awake with SLEEP issues.

Until I realised enough was enough!

So I decided to join a gym but I did the classic thing that many do themselves.

I didn’t go, for 6 months!

Why?

I was afraid of going alone in case I looked daft in front of other people at the gym.

Has that ever gone through your mind?

After all these years, I’ve come to understand it’s common, which is partly the reason people approach me for help.

But as I realised… the problem wasn’t going away.

So I recruited a Personal Trainer.

The belief and support this provided me ensured the process went smoothly.

That fear of the gym and others around me subsided so I could concentrate on me.

The funny thing is that it didn’t take long for my confidence to increase, all of those thoughts that used to go through my head were never really true!

You know…

  • I’m not good enough.
  • They’re looking at me.
  • I can’t do this.
  • What if it doesn’t work.
  • I don’t have time.

I guess sometimes we need that person around to believe in us while we struggle with it ourselves at the time.

Anyway… it didn’t take so long until I found something I enjoyed…

Exercise made me feel great.

So, after a few years, I thought that I should learn how to become a great trainer and exceptional coach so I could give something back and help other people just like the way I acquired help from other experienced trainers.

Along the way as part of my continued development I’ve worked with many mentors in various areas of Health and Fitness.

It’s helped me personally and the 100’s of people I worked with over the past few years, especially with their:

  • Health
  • Fitness
  • Sleep
  • Motivation
  • Energy
  • Nutrition

Unfortunately, there is a lot of information that can be misleading today, which is often why people are confused about what to do or where to even start.

I’d like to change that!

And to help people avoid the mistakes I made and be influenced by information on the internet that may not be serving them.

I’m going to give you talk to you about 3 KEY Steps to helping you achieve a great level of Health & Fitness.

But to begin, lets just make things clear.

I understand how you feel right now.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re a complete beginner or you’ve tried exercise but for some reason you keep stopping.

There is something that isn’t working.

So you need to change.

I’d like to help.

It gives me great job satisfaction when people tell me they’re starting to feel the opposite of some of the symptoms from above.

They have more:

  • Energy
  • Motivation
  • Confidence
  • Excitement

They sleep more efficiently, they have more productivity at work and others around them benefit too.

On top of that, everybody wants to feel and look better, right?

When you look in that mirror and it makes you smile.

You feel more proud in your favorite clothes.

Your partner can’t keep their eyes off you.

And your friends and work colleagues compliment how well you look these days.

So…

What the solution?

There are 3 basic steps…

  • Exercise
  • Nutrition
  • Mindset

Probably what you’ve heard before, right?

But it’s how we put things together.

Everyone is different which is why generic approaches will often leave people disappointed and confused.

I have 5 principles that I live by with my Health & Fitness approach.

Welcome to The 5 M’s:

  • Mindset
  • Metabolism
  • MealPrep
  • Mood
  • Movement

But within these principles there will be many methods. Let’s just say it’s like having a big toolbox.

But a great workman will only use the relevant tool for the right job.

That’s where I come in, to help you find the best approach that suits you.

Let me tell you a little more about 3 of those principles:

1. Movement (Exercise)

This is a great place to start for people.

Most people do not move much, with the whole Covid problems this has become worse for many.

People sit down for too long.

If it’s your job, it’s kind of not your fault… but you can do something about it.

Exercise is useful for weight management…

…but it’s even more important when it comes to mental health and people’s mood and stress levels.

It can be a tempory fix to help someone feel good.

But the habit can be a problem for most.

Which is what I will teach in my 4 Phase approach to exercise and movement.

The B.F.I.T Approach

  • Behaviour
  • Fundamentals
  • Intensity
  • Transformation

First we work on the habit and BEHAVIOUR working out what a good approach for you can be.

With this comes the FUNDAMENTALS.

All forms of movement are good, but there are better ways to go about things. I see many people wasting a lot of time and effort in the gym.

It doesn’t need to be complicated, learn the basics BUT do it well.

People are busy so time is always a challenge, but a great workout plan doesn’t require too much time out of your week.

With the right BEHAVIOUS and FUNDAMENTALS in place, we can focus on the INTENSITY to move you closer towards TRANSFORMATION.

My safe, scientific and sustainable methods will offer you effective workouts that don’t take too much time, are very effective and give you an enjoyable experience.

This is what Simon says…

“Phil’s expert guidance and knowledge with exercise and the relevant intensity has helped me reach a point where a regular routine has become a habit.

My weekly business planning now works around my exercise times which are enjoyable, structured and consistent. Thanks for your continuing help and support Phil”.

When you also improve your nutrition alongside this, good things start to happen.

2. MealPrep (Nutrition)

It’s fair to say people don’t move enough, or well enough.

When it comes to nutrition… people can often get caught out with going too hard.

The DEADLY DIET!

Diets CAN work, but often they don’t.

People over-restrict themselves.

They create more stress by counting calories, weighing foods out and avoid the foods they really enjoy.

You can eat cake and drink alcohol and still lose weight and achieve everything I’ve mentioned before.

There just needs to be a more skillful balance.

In my 4-Part Nutrition Program I’ll help people understand some important basics of energy balance.

Help them eat in a way that serves them better, while allowing them to still enjoy food they like.

Providing a simple solution on how you can ditch calorie counting so you have more freedom with your food, while able to still lose weight and feel great.

Once you combine better nutrition with exercise, good things start to really happen.

This is what Sean says…

“I thought I could do it alone. I was wrong!

Working with Phil has been the best decision I made in 2020. His simple and straightforward methods have helped transform my nutrition; I feel better, I look better, I perform better… and I know this is only the beginning! Phil has helped save me years of trial and error”

Then comes that one area that really helps accelerate your results.

3. Mindset

There are a few areas that could come under this umbrella.

Having a goal but more importantly a clear plan is important. As with the other areas, I have a 4-Part program with this.

But also, stress is an area that is essential to deal with.

A great exercise and nutrition program can easily become undone with too much stress.

Physically and emotionally.

Exercise and nutrition are great ways to help alleviate stress in the short-term.

Which is why I’d suggest somebody needs to improve upon this in their life. I’ve seen people reduce stress and improve other areas of their life as a result of using exercise and nutrition well.

They just needed the support and guidance.

This is what Bobby says…

“After getting married and starting a family on top of a stressful job, my weight crept back on and I had no routine.

I lacked any motivation to exercise and found that comfort eating was starting to take over. My energy levels were really low and this was starting to affect my relationships and my work stress levels were rising.

Fatigue became a daily normal and it was easy to just say I was too busy to exercise.

Helping me with my stress levels was one of the areas that Phil helped me with.

When people ask me how I now feel, the one word that comes to my mind straight away is ‘energised’ – I’m more relaxed and this has made a big impact on all areas of my life”.

When you combine exercise, nutrition and some mindset work together, good things WILL happen.

Thanks for reading my latest blog.

If there are any areas that you would like to know more about then please just feel free to ask.

Also, if you are interested in working with me, I offer the opportunity of a free consultation process, if you’re ready.

There is no obligation to take things any further than that.

I’m a believer that a conversation costs nothing and when I was ready.

I’m glad it’s the choice I once made because without the coaches and mentors I’ve worked with over the years then I wouldn’t be the expert I am with my own Health and Fitness.
